Sixteen years to the day, June 14, 1996, our beloved (Super)Sonics defeated the Chicago Bulls in game 5 of the NBA Finals. Of course, we all know they later lost series in game 6, but no Sonics fan that lived through that championship run will ever forget it. Waking up early to catch the Sonics flying from Utah or Chicago to snag a precious Reign Man autograph or photo opp. My friend's dad was trying to wake us and I just wouldnt get up, my two other buddies did and got photos and signed basketballs. Sleep sounded better at that moment. Regret is an understatement.

Sonics fanhood runs deep within me and believe a new arena and bringing the Sonics back is a positive for the Seattle community. One of my favorite parts of the rally was when Shrempf was talking about the sense of community during the glorious 90s, when everyone was connected by the winning and the dynamic players. I hope this short piece helps people remember how great it was to have the Sonics and to encourage action.
