It was one of those ideas, that emerges from a relaxing after-work beer at the bar next to our office. Markus and I were discussing Intuity's coffee maker – the infamously named “Bravilor Bonamat” – and asserted it needed some pimping.
Let me explain: While those great italian espresso machines come with chrome and sound like steamhorses, the Bonamat coffeemaker comes with the charm and efficiency of DDR tech stuff – in a positive way. As insight is the first step to betterment, I made a secret plan. Without telling anyone, I ordered a couple of low cost electronic components, opened and e-enabled the Bonamat with a USB port and upgraded a little fender-like amp with a cheap mp3 video player. The result: Now, when Bonamat is ready with fresh coffee for the team, it plays a random music video stored on the mp3 player – letting noone in doubt when it's time for a caffeine boost.
