June 11th, 2012, marked the first day of the Great Works Dam removal. Over ten years in the making, the Penobscot River Restoration Trust and it's associated members have worked tirelessly to open 1,000 miles of the Penobscot River, the largest watershed in Maine. Over 11 species of sea-run fish will soon have access to their critical habitat and spawning grounds.
