The Mr-G unit masquerades as a giant, immutable black obelisk with a twist. As a customer apporcahes it, an aperture gradually and playfully opens to reveal the ultimate G Shock watch, one of only 200 made. When dormant the display looks completely black, but through the use of a proximity sensor, the closer you get to the unit the more the graphic aperture opens playfully revealing the product and enticing the customer in, before the full animation depicting the technology story behind. The cabinet uses a transparent display to achieve this stunning effect, with the watch cushioned between the transparent display and a back-projected surface that provides illumination and subtle highlighting and graphics. Once revealed, compelling motion graphics deliver key messages about the product’s design and manufacturing. All of the motion graphics and patterns are based on specific details from the watch itself, from the watch face, strap and inner workings.
