This was a special wedding for us (not that every wedding isn't special). First and foremost, the groom (Jason), has been a good friend of mine (Adam) for 20 years. His mother owns the dance studio that I grew up clogging (yes, clogging) at in Burgaw, NC. As many weddings as I've been to and as many times as I've seen a ceremony or a first dance, it's always different when it's a friend. So there's that.
Also, we shot both film and photography for this wedding. It's such a unique experience to provide both of those services at one time. Each medium had a separate "team", but we all worked together as a unit for the common goal of the studio. Not that we don't work very well with other vendors, but when everyone is working towards the same cause, it can make for some really amazing opportunities to create very unique memories. For example, Austin (who was leading the 'photography team') shot a bit of video during the first dance, that we, otherwise, wouldn't have been able to get. I'd like to also make mention of the super talented crew we had working with us: Jeff Branch (film), Andrew Sherman (photography), and our intern, Jesse Pushee who acted as an assistant/shooter/grip for both mediums.
The story: Jason and Heather are both actors. They met during a production at Thalian Hall and began dating there-after. For their wedding, it was an obvious choice to perform the ceremony on the stage at Thalian. Super cool. Other cool elements of their wedding: Clogging! There were lots of guests, including me, who danced at Cripple Creek throughout the years, and at one point during the reception, a full-on clogging breakdown broke out! Oh yeah, there was also an amazing fireworks display! If you haven't seen the new deck at South, it is incredible! It provided the perfect view for watching the Azalea Festival fireworks downtown! I really could talk all day about the different dynamics of this wedding, but I digress.
Like I said, this wedding was special, and we couldn't be more happy for this amazing couple. We wish them both the absolute best.
