Two friends of mine, one a graphic artist who has designed and illustrated books, the other a former journalist now running a journalism program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, met for the first time here at Kits Point, Vancouver, at my invitation to take part in this video, to discuss three works of art. I knew that Beverley had strong feelings about the first work--she hated it, and makes no bones about it. I assumed that my friend Derek, an artist, would be supportive of the installation.
The first work is called Freezing Water #7, by Jun Ren, installed for the 2009-2011 Vancouver Biennale at Kitsilano Point in Vancouver. The second work is Gate to the Northwest Passage by Alan Chung Hung (1980), and the third is The Stop, another Biennale temporary installation, is by Michael Zheng.
