Rural and tribal women in Gujarat have very little access to the law. The NGO Vikalp addresses this need by supporting two courts for women-the Nari Adalat in rural Padra and the Mahila Panch in tribal Gujarat. Thirteen women judges sit on each of the courts and hear about 150 cases a year. They also visit villages to collect information and provide practical advice.
Hear the stories of the judges on these courts and the types of cases they resolve.
