Featuring a Silent Disco, live music from local bands, and a loud photobooth, with support from area businesses to help close the gap in each non-profit’s fiscal year end budgets. This event is expected to be the party of the summer, and will take place on Saturday June 30th from 8:00 PM until 1:00 AM.
Light House Studio, Live Arts Theater, and Second Street Gallery announce the first building-wide fundraiser at the City Center for Contemporary Arts on Saturday, June 30th, 2012. There will be entertainment happening on all levels of the building, with something for everyone. The event will feature a silent disco – a popular phenomenon in Europe – where guests are provided wireless headphone sets, through which local DJ XSV’s music will be broadcast. The Silent Disco will take place inside Second Street Gallery, and there will be no worries about echoes or noise violations!
Billy Hunt, local photographer and Light House Board member, will showcase his Scream-O-Tron 3000 during this event. This volume-activated photo booth has attracted nationwide attention and was featured in Wired magazine. In the Live Arts theater, guests will be able to sample a variety of Virginia wines, along with music by Margaret Parsons with Wells Haney.
Finally, guests can make their way up to the roof of the to enjoy Blue Mountain Brewery brews while listening to live music provided by Charlottesville bands including London’s Burning (Pantherburn/I See London), Carl Anderson & his Band, The New Best Recipe, and Lord Nelson. There will be a variety of musical styles, ranging from bluegrass to folk to rock and roll.
In front of the building’s entrance, there will be local food trucks offering their cuisine to Mind The Gap guests (please note that the food vending is not included in the price of admission).
