I love to be a part of a church with kind, loving, sweet people who make lots of good choices in their life. That makes for a nice community and a comfortable group to be with. But that is kind of what the religious leaders of Jesus day were wanting and they were perturbed with Jesus actions, with the people Jesus gravitated towards. Is LOC’s youth ministry, and kids ministry, and worship community the sort of place the “wrong” sort of people would feel comfortable? According to Jesus, the wrong people are the right people. Lost people matter to God. What if the people who don’t think “church” is for them, are exactly the people Jesus is longing to connect with? The haughty and the confused. The hurting and the sketchy. Not perfect people.
