ABOUT THE FILM
"Into the Dark" is an animated short film in stop-motion technique. It tells the story of Orpheus, the most talented musician of ancient Greek, who can not bear the grief after the death of his beloved wife Eurydice. He therefore takes on a journey into the underworld to rescue her.
Just by the magic of his music – which, according to legend, is also able to move mountains – he defies all the dangers he encounters. Because Orpheus' music charms even the gods, the rescue of Eurydice seems to be no obstacle.
It took me almost five years to complete the film since it's mostly handmade. The music was composed by Philippe Laville.
We celebrated the film's premiere at the Filmhaus cimema in Bielefeld on June 2, 2012.

Interestingly, the question of the budget is often included in application forms for film festivals. The film had virtually no budget, apart from inexhaustible imagination and neverending motivation. Material costs did not exceed 300 € put into production, because I've worked mainly with the simple or recycled materials. I can't translate the costs for the technical equipment properly, because I already owned most of the things and I'll also use them in future productions. All in all, I've spent about 2,000 hours (spread over five years) to complete this project.
