A 12-minute hand-drawn animated video. It’s an allegorical story of how radically media changed in my lifetime. My self perception was molded by it in the Kennedy era. In the Instagram age, I’ve been de-formed by it, flattening my individuality to fit the width of a sound bite, a slip of subtext in America's out-sized presence in the global movie market and social media.
Alice, a slip of white paper, believes the American movie fantasy of the Middle East. Her illusions meet reality among the wildly patterned landscapes and shifting winds of social media.

My work explores cultural mythologies and the roles they play in our societal perceptions of each other. I've spent years
moving across cultures listening and collecting stories. At this time, I'm particularly interested in how iconic images and forms - from ancient symbols to pop-culture emojis and memes – can be interpreted differently by viewers in different
countries and cultures.
