William Arnett is an Atlanta collector and art historian with a passion for preserving southern black art. Arnett become largely responsible for preserving and exposing the word to many black artists including Thornton Dial. In the 90's it seemed that Thornton Dial was about to break the barrier between the folk (outsider) art and “fine” art worlds. Then 60 Minutes ran a segment that suggested Mr. Arnett was exploiting black artists, particularly Mr. Dial.
