On July 1st, 2012 a small team of divers consisting of Jeff Petersen, Eric Deister, and Matt Vinzant ventured to Twin Dees Spring in Weeki Wachee Florida. The mission; to investigate the feasibility of cave exploration after the major rainfall even, Tropical Storm Debby.
This once powerful spring has now become dormant for the majority of the year due to increased pressure from urban sprawl. With the recent rains the spring has been temporarily revived and she is pumping hard.
The system is purging organic material that has accumulated since 2004, Entering the cave is a major challenge as one must fight back the force of the river though a manhole sized solution tube.
Here is a video clip of the first 500' of cave shot on a head mounted GoPro Hero and Light and Motion Sola 1200
This is a unique cave, that may lend itself to some exciting exploration this season.
