ABOUT THE TRAILER
The Blow-Ins is an adventure comedy with a rockabilly feel about single mum Lorraine Egan (Jill Sartini), who must put old ghosts to rest to succeed as a sea rescue volunteer in her new village. The trailer is a 4-min excerpt from the film in which Lorraine receives her first rescue call. She is spurred on by her quirky young daughter Hailey (Ellen Phelan) in her quest to wipe away the memory of her father's fishy sea rescue stories and restore honour to the family name.

PREMISE
A free-spirited mom travels to her father's birthplace in the West of Ireland to see where he once 'battled' a giant whale, only to discover from the locals that he was a complete coward. She must restore the family honor with a sea rescue adventure of her own.

DIRECTOR'S NOTE
I met a veteran filmmaker in Cannes this year who had never heard of Lucille Ball. He was raising funds for a comedy -- I did not invest. As with Lucy, The Blow-Ins' Lorraine is that rare phenomenon in cinema: the female clown. If you like (or even love) Lucy, you stand a good chance of enjoying Lorraine's adventures in the male-dominated world of sea rescue as represented in The Blow-Ins. If you hate Lucy, I will happily pass on the details of a wonderful film investment opportunity.

On a slightly more serious tip, as much as I wanted Lorraine's adventure to be an unashamed crowd-pleaser, I also wished to explore the issue of how deep-rooted family dysfunctions are passed on from one generation to the next. Lead character Lorraine identifies such a problem and decides to break the cycle for the sake of her child, despite much opposition out in the world -- and from deep within.

The thematic pill would be sweetened by the film's irreverent humor, big brash performances, broad sweep of interesting locations, vibrant color palette, and wonderful surf rock music.

Enjoy the film,
CJ
