The Alta Alpina 8 Pass Challenge, "Riding The Wild Sierra" is basically a 198 mile Death Ride route with 3 extra passes to make for a total of over 20,300 feet of climbing. You have 19 1/2 hours to complete the course. The ride start and finish is at Turtle Rock Park by Markleeville California. There are also four other shorter ride options to pick from. The roads are open to vehicles, but traffic is very light.
