The Burj Al Arab Hotel has been described as "the world's only 7-star hotel" and boasts a helipad on the roof at around 220 metres (720 feet) above the ground - an interesting challenge! The hotel is modelled in FSX, so I decided to try out the landing with the Dodo-Sim Bell 206B. Here's the result, a short video made with the FSX flight simulator and clips captured using FRAPS.
Midway through the flight, the 206 went into vortex ring state - a feature of the Dodo-Sim model - but control was regained after pushing the cyclic forward to escape the 'down-draught'. The landing was a bit of a bump - but the view compensated for this. Music by Lynyrd Skynyrd (hope the spelling is correct) - enjoy!
