The “Peace Starts in YOUR Heart” peace march and concert on Sunday the 20th of September 2009 was a huge success!
Leigh Wood introduced us to the importance of children. Leigh asked a few children from Maria Montessori House, who were on stage with her, what peace meant to them. The first musical performance was a song called “You’re The Voice” by John Farnham, sung by the Maria Montessori House children together with Cito - lead singer of the popular South African band "Wonderboom", who performed acoustic guitar and led them in song. Besides their sweet voices, it was their choreographed actions that brought the house down. They had acted out words like “fear”, “silence” and “gun”.
Ninetynine, helium-filled, white balloons were organized for the children to release as a symbol of their prayers for peace. It was synchronized so they’d let go on the word “heart” after chanting “Peace starts in your heart”...!
