Josh Miller (waterfall) construction

Esc was a large-scale video/animation/interactive installation/event piece that I did for my senior project as part of a team. While the multimedia department at my university teaches everyone to use maya, I was put in charge of this particular final group project and opted to use Blender to render our final product.

Team members were allowed to use whatever software package they were most comfortable with. Some chose edited video, some made after effects video/graphics mash-ups, I made a few blender 3D animations, and the bulk of 3D work done by the 3 animators was done in Maya. Blender was used to UV map any ready video on to a 3D representation of the library steps and rendered from the perspective of both projectors.

Lastly, I developed a complex Quartz Composer program to (1) perform warping to repair mis-alignments, (2) automatically switch videos with the escape button transition, and (3) synchronize both of the computers across a network.
