After a lousy season (2011-2012), Cairngorm Mountain got a good dump of snow at the end of April. I missed a hastily organised Big Weekend but when the snow hung around I knew I had to go. On the fourth of May after work, I crossed the border and over nighted near the capital. The next day, with new day rising on the car cassette player, I rose early and drove north. Fantastic drive followed by a fantastic day on the Hill. Not loads of variety or miles of runs but plenty to keep me entertained and all accompanied by cool people all over the mountain. Too many to mention by name, even if I knew them but particular thanks to the snowboarder who showed me a few nice little bits that I would not have found myself, the skier from Nairn I shared a lift with, the boarder instructor enjoying a cheeky little session before doing some van driving and the 3 young lads who do the jump in the video - sorry it has taken me so long to post this. Also respect to all the lifties and ski patrol I encountered who were hardworkin and welcoming people. I had a great time and hells teeth I've been boarding in Scotland in May! Hope the video reminds you of good times or encourages you to try out the white stuff in Scotland - No pun on the work of Irvine Welsh intended.
