These are some of the shots done by our filmmakers attending the Palm Springs Photo Festival. Jeff Dunas was kind enough to invite us bring our Canon Boot Camp out to the Korakia Penzione Hotel in April.
The final shot of this sequence shows the Canon 5D Mark III's ability to hold sharp focus while avoiding moire. We could hot have gotten this shot with the Mark II without moire. We wanted everything sharp. We were pleasantly surprised at the Mark III's performance. In our opinion the Canon engineers "cut the veil between moire and sharpness" when they upgraded the Mark III's ability to sidestep moire, even though the Mark II is still an excellent camera.
Lighting is from a shiny board outside the window (at high noon) punching through some diffusion and blue gel. ISO 2500, Canon 24-105mm, f 16 (for deep depth of field).
(The shots were performed by the Canon Boot Camp filmmakers attending the Palm Springs Photo Festival, hosted by The Korakia Penzione hotel in Palm Springs. The scenes are from The Orchard House at the Korakia Penzione. The Korakia is so elegantly special it makes any camera person look pretty good. Check it out as a great location - korakia.com/ )
