A few weeks ago my colleague and I were asked to fly out to Boston, MA to shoot a short video for a new client of ours based out there.
Despite our travels usually being very short, we always like to explore as much as we can, and to use our spare time to shoot some more video. Sometimes the rushes end up in little projects like this one and other times they're just kept as high res memories of the places we've been and the people we've met.
If you google Boston, one of the first images that comes up is this shot of a wide city landscape looking over the water. It was this image that got me excited about going to the City, and I was determined to find it during our stay. After we finished our final shoot on Friday afternoon about 2pm, we set off in search of this viewpoint in our trusty hire car.
Piers Park just opposite Marginal Street in East Boston isn't really on the tourist attractions list, in fact one guy we met there with his family said he'd lived in Boston nearly 30 years and never ventured to this particular part of the City. The park is lovely. It's green, right on the water and there's a perfect place at the end of the park to watch the sunset. If you're ever in Boston, I highly recommend it.
It was pure luck finding the park but on our way we also stumbled across this broken, rusty, battered old Pier forgotten by all but a few locals. Pier One was literally three streets across from Piers Park, and we just loved it there. We decided to do a quick 45 minute shoot before moving on and this is what we came up with.
Whilst there we met Helio Feu - a Brazilian guy who was on the phone to his fiance back in Brazil. He kindly let us shoot him for a couple of minutes. Helio, I hope you like what you see, and we wish you and you and your partner all the best in the future.
Thanks for reading, and hope you all enjoy the film.
