Cary is the Arts and Culture Director for the City of Portland, Oregon.
Could there be any better job in the country right now?
I don't know what it's really like, but I'm claiming "I think Cary has the coolest job in the country right now."
Cary has an insightful point about summertime "It's the time of year where we get the harvest of all the stuff people have been working on all year." Indeed, Portland's rain can keep us holed up for extended periods. While that can make miserable company, it can make great art, too! Portland rain marinates art.
Cary also mentions the frequent opportunities to participate in Portland art from First Thursday to Last Thursday, then First Friday and Second Tuesday. Say what? Who knew about Second Tuesday? Well, Cary did. And now I do.
Second Tuesday is when institutions like the Oregon Zoo and OMSI have discounted entrance prices.
