This is an extract of a short film that I directed back in 1990. It was written and produced by Alex Panton and starred Amanda Metro and Kevin Dukes. Amanda had previously - alongside EastEnders actress Michelle Collins - been one of the Marionettes, the backing vocalists for 1980s pop group Mari Wilson & the Wilsations. The film was mostly shot on Dartmoor, in England, on a shoestring budget. The originating format was 16mm, hence the 4:3 aspect ratio and the somewhat grainy image. One astute viewer described it as, "Stanley Kubrick meets David Lynch, with a touch of Kenneth Anger!" That was probably over generous, but it did correctly identify the influences playing out in this unusual little film.
