‘Deseos’ – ‘Desires’ – is a film set in a dystopian, post-apocalyptic future that is somewhat resonant of the year 2020. We witness an intensified form of isolation, one where characters do not interact and hence, cohabit but do not coexist in the same space. They are people dowsing for underground water who have lived alone for a long time – each unique in their reactions, but alike in their longing for human interaction – whose fears and desires have now come to manifest in a strange, dream-like reality.
Deseos follows them with a narrative composed of isolated lines from multiple Spanish poems exploring human relationships.
