Working in concert with chashama and the Times Square Alliance, we hosted an international competition with the goal of discovering creative talent and exposing it to the world at one of the most iconic locations on the planet : Times Square NYC.
Tens of thousands of artists participated. Hundreds of thousands of votes were cast. One artist was chosen.
On June 18, 2012 the works of Art Takes Times Square Grand Prize Artist Vicki DaSilva were displayed on some of the most iconic billboards in Times Square, transforming the crossroads of the world into an immense display of art. The street was flooded with artists, art lovers, friends and family from all over the world, brought together by this spectacular celebration. Thank you to all who joined us for this incredible event, and congratulations to Vicki and all the featured artists!
For the month of July 2012 Vicki DaSilva and Artists Wanted artists Surabhi Saraf and Elly Cho will illuminate a over a dozen Times Square billboards every night from 11:57 pm to midnight as part of Times Square Moment : A Digital Gallery, presented by the Times Square Advertising Coalition (TSAC) and Times Square Arts.
The following digital screens are participating in the July Times Square Moment: ABC Super Sign, American Eagle Times Square, Bank of America, City Outdoor, Disney, JVC Screen, MTV 44 ½, NASDAQ, Clear Channel Spectacolor HD129 Times Square Visitor Center Marquee, Clear Channel Spectacolor HD 128, Clear Channel Spectacolor HD 127 CNN Screen, Times Square Visitor Center lobby screens, Viacom Building North and South (SL Green Realty and Orange Barrel Media) and Thomson Reuters. Additionally, 8 CEMUSA newsstands will be lit up on Broadway and 7th Avenue between 41st and 49th streets.
