SummerWorks is the 11th/12th grade component of Mayor Sam Adams’ Summer Youth Connect initiative, which aims to keep students engaged who are at risk of not graduating on-time. It gives students work-readiness training, targeted academic skill-building, and 180 hours of paid work experience at diverse employment sites across the Portland region. The mayor highlighted the aims of Summer Youth Connect, noting that “it’s all about getting more Portland high school students to graduate on time.”
