SUMMARY.- The project aims to develop conditions for the full realization and expression of indigenous and marginalized people’s human, environmental, gender and cultural rights, and for building resilient and vibrant communities. The focus is on creating strategies for resilience through organic agriculture and increasing food security and sovereignty in communities in the Casma River basin in Ancash; by working with Strategic Alliance Groups (SAGs) and networks, it is possible for this project to influence government at the local, regional and national level.
To achieve this, members of these rural communities have become trained farmers so that they might train others. They have learned, and have been empowered, through experiential work- shops, field trips, counseling and support so that they might become productive organic farmers of crops and livestock for their own consumption, as well as for sale and earning a livelihood. All of this is done so that production is sustainable, and the rights of women upheld.
