Mykki Blanco is running from the police. Or, rather, he’s running from
the police in his new music video for “Wavvy,” the wicked Brenmar-produced
track off the drag luminary’s upcoming Cosmic Angel mixtape. See the video here:

Directed by
photographer Francesco Carrozzini, the clip for “Wavvy” was filmed over
two days in Chinatown and the Jane Ballroom in New York, and takes its
sequence of events from traditional rap video scenarios (see: big, lavish
parties, cash, hustling). But with Blanco’s unmistakable touch on it,
“Wavvy” is literally anything but your typical rap music video. BULLETT
has exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, and we’ve managed to catch
everything that’s so fantastic about Blanco and his latest clip: he’s an
exuberant personality, his flow is staggering, and each location and
outfit change is dripping with Fellini and Cabaret-inspired opulence. As
one of many new queer artists spearheading an unprecedented era for
hip-hop, Blanco’s distinctive drag aesthetic and breakneck verses set him
apart as a fresh and disarmingly brilliant force to be reckoned with. If
the total insanity delivered here is any indication, then there’s no
denying that Blanco is most certainly at the top of his game.
