Shot Breakdown

Section 1: Character Modeling and Texturing

1. Annie Oakley (personal project): Original design. I modeled her using a combination of Zbrush and Maya. The initial modeling phase was done in Zbrush starting from Zspheres. She was then re-topologized in Zbrush. Geometry refinements were done in Maya. I textured her in Photoshop. She was lit, rendered, and posed in Zbrush.

2. Frank (personal project): Original design. Sculpted in its entirety in Zbrush using Zspheres and various organic and hard surface modeling techniques. Posed, lit, and rendered in Zbrush.

3. Gargoyle (Toy Story 3, the video game): I modeled him using a combination of Zbrush and Maya. The majority of the modeling was done in Maya, using Zbrush primarily for the detailing process. He was posed, lit, and rendered in Zbrush.

4. Maleficent (3D concept): I modeled her in Maya and textured her in Photoshop. She was lit, shaded, and rendered in Maya using Mental Ray.

5. Robot (Toy Story 3, the video game): I modeled him in Maya and textured him in Photoshop. He was lit, shaded, and rendered in Maya using Mental Ray.

6. Dr. Lynx (Disney’s Bolt, the video game): I modeled him in Maya and textured him in Photoshop. he was lit, shaded, and rendered in Maya using Mental Ray.

7. Toy Vehicles (Toy Story 3, the video game): I modeled these in Maya and textured them in Photoshop. They were lit, shaded, and rendered in Maya using Mental Ray. Some of the modeling/detailing was done in Zbrush, such as the wheels on the Dump Truck and the tire treads on the Rally Car.

Section 2: Character Rigging

Shape driven facial animation setup with custom UI controlled via set driven key. Stretchy IK spine, arms, and legs. Reverse foot setup. custom attributes on hands for fist and finger curling. custom attribute on eyes for pupil dilation. Soft eyes setup so eyelids follow eye position and movement.

Section 3: Traditional Art

Pencil sketches scanned and painted digitally in Photoshop and Painter.

Other: I designed all the graphics used throughout the presentation of this demo reel. Composited, animated, and edited in After Effects.
