Well, it has been at least three years since I've had a request for a 'same day edit'. What this means is that half way through location shots, I head back to the studio and cut together what I have shot thus far, in order to show it at the venue that evening. I am the first to admit that I am not a fan of this process, one I feel a little rushed and when I show it at the venue that night, people come up to express their admiration, which makes me feel a little uncomfortable due to the fact that I believe it's not I who has created the edit that they are enjoying, it's the couple and their day, all I had to do was make sure I was awake and I hit record...
Joseph and Chantelle were an absolute joy to be around, their families warm and welcoming. Joseph's father had passed, and out of respect, Joseph cleared the house just before leaving and spent a quite moment in reflection, honouring his father. Truly a very special moment to witness.
Ceremony took place at the Coptic Orthodox church in Oakleigh. It always surprises me when I think about how much we know about the many many different traditions and religions we capture. Knowing where to stand at the right moment for example, and in this case to take off my shoes when heading onto the alter, all needing to be done without a second thought.
Again the Joseph Koprek machine was in full swing, taking the couple to varied urban scapes and creating killer compositions. My last wedding with Joseph before he heads to San Francisco to shoot a wedding...Like they couldn't find a photographer locally, well not one of Kopreks' talent anyway!
That night was full of Arabic drum beats and wicked tunes by our DJ, lighting up the Brighton International like it was no body's business. All in all a very fun day.
