This video work was created by pETER Purg at the Komiža New Media Port (Video Vortex Summer School) in Komiža, Croatia, in July 2012. The site-specific piece is framed into a mini-performance and installation situation (looping an a 22"screen with headphones and 2 carafes on each side, gradually filled up by author/performer with port seawater, brought in with a sardine tin can -- to be seen in a separate docu-video at vimeo.com/46000694 ). "The Return of Neptun" video is composed of one single shot, cut into several parts, edited with original underwater-camera (ActionPro SD20F) sounds and interviews with the bathers at the Neptun factory beach on 12.7.2012. //ENGLISH-SUBTITLED VERSION IS COMING ASAP//.
The piece is a topical and site-specific development from the "Catharsis of Neptun" performance-based installation from the 2011 edition of the Komiža New Media Port international summer school, where the author of this work also took part as mentor (c.f. vsu.ung.si/ustvarjamo/peter-purg/catharsis-of-neptune). Both were presented in the Komiža town reading room (Čitaona). To round up his Neptun trilogy project, 2013 will be seeing a further work by pETER Purg.. Stay tuned.
