Different situations call for different types of communications. Remember Morse code? Or smoke signals? How about carrier pigeons? What about a mother’s look of displeasure, or the catcher’s signals to the pitcher? Email? You get the picture!
We mention this as we look at the ways the Holy Spirit has communicated in the church. It helps us to understand the historical readings we have in scripture if we remember how effective communication changes over time and circumstance. We will focus on the issue of speaking in tongues as a spiritual gift in Corinth. We hope to understand more fully how Paul saw the problems, and the solutions Paul taught. Our ultimate goal is to then compare the situation in Corinth and Paul’s teaching on it to the church today.
Join us as we seek to understand the Holy Spirit through the writings of Paul in this fourth lesson on Paul’s theology of the Holy Spirit.
