Jendayi Frazer was interviewed today by the BCC to discuss the recent sentencing of DR Congo militia leader Thomas Lubanga. Lubanga led the Union of Congolese Patriots (UPC), an ethnic Hema militia. The International Criminal Court sentenced him to a term of 14 years in prison for his role in recruiting and sending children under 15 years old to the battlefield. In this video clip, Frazer comments on the sentencing, and the broader political and economic challenges that eastern Congo and its neighbor Rwanda face.
