GRASS FARMERS

REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE & THE CANADIAN GRASSLANDS

"At no time in history have we been more effective at at producing calories on a small amount of land ... but we're now realizing that there are some consequences we didn't foresee."

Dr. Sean Smukler, PhD

University of British Columbia

Did you know that it’s possible for cattle production to be green? Like, green, green? As in, carbon sink green? It’s called Regenerative Agriculture and a handfull of ranchers are out there finding a way forward.

The folks at A&W know a good idea when they see it. So they have begun working with the Canadian beef industry to grow Canada’s grass-fed and finished beef market and they are now on a journey to exclusively source and serve 100% Canadian, grass-finished beef at all of their restaurants. Ans as part of that journey, they also want to help champion the growing regenerative agriculture movement in Canada.

A&W asked Trail to head out across the Canada, to talk with ranchers who have found some interesting old ways to solve some of our newest problems. So we did. And this is what we found.
