This summer we visited Camp Dick in Roosevelt National Forest/Indian Peaks Wilderness Area to go backpacking and discovered the trail was littered with boulders along the entire Buchannon's Pass Trail. Although it is hardly ever mentioned for bouldering, the trail has three solid bouldering sections located 10 mins, 60 mins, and 90 mins hike from the trail head, with some boulders scattered between them (mainly on the right/north). There is definitely potential for many more problems to be put up, especially at the 60 minute group of boulders. The hike is a very easy grade that follows a mountain stream the entire way, so if you want to escape the summer heat check it out.
This video is a sample of some of the obvious routes we noticed on our first trip. Cant wait to go back for more!
p.s. there is a 4 x 4 trail that allows you to drive 3 miles along the opposite side of the river meeting up with the trail just below the last group of boulders.
