Margaret shares a weekly ritual of peeling potatoes with her two closest friends during the blitz of World War 2 in London. They swap stories of their weekly events of bingo, husbands and chores. The subject takes a turn when the focus is drawn to Margaret and her single life. At a time when having children is of prime importance to a single woman in her 30's, Margaret is faced with the decision of telling her friends of her dark past and the one time when she did conceive.
