A film of Nigel Pickering and James Pickering building a slate sculpture on Machrins beach on Colonsay, Scotland.
Three years earlier, James had built a similar sculpture in the same place, attracting a certain amount of intrigue from both islanders and visitors. Over the next few years the sculpture fell down and was rebuilt (not by James). On a trip to Colonsay this summer, we found the sculpture intact, only to return a few days later to see that it was no longer there.
After talking to a local, James and Nigel felt encouraged to rebuild the sculpture. The build took around 6 hours. Nigel and I set up timelapse cameras and I filmed it upon completion.
