My focus in Parkdale, is of a stretch of Queen Street West that has undergone a huge transformation in the last few years, seen not only in the common gentrification of so many Toronto neighbourhoods, but a particularly marked presence of gay, lesbian and transgendered people, queer positive businesses and organizations claiming the area as their own: a flip from Queen West to Queer West.
Here, a simple line drawing of the block becomes transformed by a plaid pattern as the residents that make up the neighbourhood, that have come together to form a community, populate the street scape.
