"What did I create during the pandemic?" Years from now creatives may look back and ask ourselves this. For me specifically, I wanted to ask, "What did I create that encompassed unfathomably complex, seemingly never-ending trying times that would bring out the best and worst at people the same time?" When the pandemic hands us the ethical dilemma of economy versus public safety, it can seem like a global scale reality tv show of Survivor in which we're all participants. While having a positive outlook is conducive to coping, I also feel that it's ok to acknowledge the hurt and frustration that this year has brought. I wanted to create something that people could recognize and connect with. I also wanted to find a way to develop myself in a time of adversity by broadening my skillset as a videographer. I started filming footage back in March, not knowing what direction that it would go. We've had ups and downs, glimmers of hope and being able to take a breath, only to have that hope taken away again. Perhaps one day I can make a sequel… when it actually has gone away, I hope. That is what I will cling on to.
