I'm often asked how can you use NLP to improve your mental health, and particularly now as we go through the pandemic, how can you develop resilient states of consciousness to help people to get through this difficult time?
I really draw from four key areas, and this is where I find NLP is very useful. The first thing I look at is how I feel on a particular day. NLP has got lots of tools and techniques to build feelings, or to collapse negative associations, so I've got lots in the toolbox, if I want to change, or improve, or alter my feelings. From there I look at perceptions, if the meanings that I'm applying to something is useful well then I will continue to use it, if I've come to a wrong perception, or applied a wrong meaning to something, I have tools from NLP that I can use there. The next level is how do I store all of this information, Very often what we do is we create horror movies inside our mind. NLP is particularly useful to find ways of actually changing how you think, to improve and alter your perceptions in a useful way. Finally, then what I look at is am I making progress? NLP is exquisite at eliciting strategies or modelling excellence.
These are the four essential ways that I use NLP and hopefully it might give you some insight into how you might use NLP to help you!
