CUBE is the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s annual educational outreach programme that is aimed at junior college and polytechnic students in the hope of inspiring a future generation of built environment practitioners to help shape Singapore into a better place to live, work and play in.
Held over 5 days from 30 May to 3 June 2011, CUBE 2011 attracted the participation of 95 students from 13 local junior colleges and polytechnics. The students were exposed to real life urban planning issues and were given the skills and freedom to propose urban interventions that will meet the aspirations of Singaporeans.
The site for the challenge is the area surrounding Fort Canning Hill that includes the Singapore River, the Civic District and Bras Basah.Bugis, presenting opportunities for a variety of urban planning and design ideas. This video documents and celebrates our workshop participants’ enthusiasm and creativity!
