Full Frame Documentary Film Festival
Saturday, April 14, 2012
This groundbreaking distribution company is democratically operated by over 100 filmmakers. Forty years ago, its four founding filmmakers were prescient in realizing filmmakers could empower themselves and take the process of reaching their audience into their own hands. In this conversation, the founders describe their successful business model. How has it responded to market changes over the years — 16mm to VHS to DVD and now streaming? And as membership has grown, how has New Day Films continued to keep its unprecedented democratic process intact?
Panelists include New Day Films founders and filmmakers: Liane Brandon, ANYTHING YOU WANT TO BE; Jim Klein, GROWING UP FEMALE; Julia Reichert, GROWING UP FEMALE; Amalie R. Rothschild, IT HAPPENS TO US.
Moderator: Robert West, Working Films
Full Frame is proud to present the A&E IndieFilms Speakeasy for the second year in 2012. The venue hosts a number of panel conversations over the course of the annual festival that are free and open to the public. The Speakeasy offers a casual, intimate setting where a small audience can listen to industry leaders take on topics that are at the heart of the documentary community today.
