James Kofi Annan was sold into slavery on Lake Volta in Ghana at age six.
When he was thirteen, he escaped.
He put himself through elementary school, then high school, then college.
He become a banker.
But then he left his career to GO BACK to the lake from which he had escaped to rescue some of the 21,000 other children still enslaved as he had been.
He has since rescued 1500 boys and girls and inspired them to rescue others.
Today, James is a leader in eradicating child slavery on Lake Volta.
He won't stop until 21,000 has become zero:
"Activism to end trafficking must be an innate calling, which then translates into long term commitment. In this nothing, absolutely nothing (threats, lack of funds, etc), is capable of quenching the flame."
