The Salton Sea and surrounding agricultural land are an important element in the Winter migration of many migratory birds like Snow Geese, White Pelicans, Sandhill Cranes, and many different species of gulls, shorebirds and waterfowl.
Every winter the area fills with hundreds of thousands of birds, that depend on the Salton Sea for food from the Talapia (fish) as well as crops raised by the local farmers to help feed the birds, in a cooperative effort to maintain a balanced ecosystem. It was fun to get up early and shoot video of the birds in their natural habitat.
Sometimes, I just like to watch, while the camera is sitting on a tripod. :-)
