View a rare daytime "boil" of a loggerhead sea turtle nest in Orange Beach, Alabama. These hatchlings emerged from their nest at about 4:50 pm on July 24, 2012 when an afternoon thunderstorm cooled the sand and convinced them it was time to leave.
Loggerheads nest at night and their nests hatch at night ... usually. The Share the Beach volunteer team scrambled to assist these little hatchlings on their journey across the sand to the Gulf of Mexico. In all we managed to get 119 hatchlings safely to the water.
God Speed little ones!
