Having travelled the world for more than a decade in search of whitewater, I have amazingly enough been injury free. However, luck does not last for ever, and in June I suddenly found my self with a serious AC 3 shoulder separation.
In the "Horgi Ned" tri-atlon you ski in the backcountry, then switch to downhill bikes, then to kayaks. After skiing, I crashed hard on the bike. Despite the pain, which I considered survivable, I finished the trail. Then I paddled three kilometers of whitewater to finish the race. I regretted every "stroke" I took down the river, blinded by tears, and to my surprise I ended up third, only minutes behind the winner. It made me smile for a second, before I got hurried to the hospital for a five hour long surgery, and the start of my personal interregnum.
This video is simply a glance back at all the good memories I have had on the river while I wait to heal. These days, my focus is simply on creating new dreams with the memories of my old ones. Soon enough, I will turn these very dreams into reality.
It is also a tiny tribute to all those out there that have been injured and made it back on track. You are my inspiration. Thank you.
