Yes, it is possible to make interactive, social and innovative banner campaigns. To spread J&B's "Experiential Movement", we put a banner on the main page of the most popular Spanish journal which showed users' Instagram pictures. We also developed an element that invited the user to send a tweet from that same page and a spectacular Masthead in YouTube. It was all focused on escaping from traditional formats and turning the user into the centre of the action and spokesperson of the brand.
