'Wig Play' is a performance made on the opening night of my solo show at the CCA, Derry, Northern Ireland, in March, 2012.
This video is the documentation, by Paola Bernadelli, of the performance.
The piece involves a costumed performer interacting with a number of sculptural props, including severed heads, a pubic wig, an alligator, and two figures.
A pre-recorded MP3 of spoken word, original song and musical score accompanies the piece.
The performer wears a hand-made costume, and a clay mask.
The costume references my works on paper, specifically a character called The River Clown.
The River Clown begins the performance carrying a severed head sculptural prop.
The head instructs The River Clown to search in the belly of a papier mache alligator.
The performance progresses through story-telling, song and actions that combine the poetic and the absurd.
