This was filmed at Dragons Tooth Rapid on the Dryway section of the Deerfield River in Massachusetts during a scheduled release for paddlers. Most of the time this section of river is almost entirely dry (as you can see at the start and end at the video) but on the weekends during the summer the river rises to let paddlers enjoy the whitewater. All and all this is just under eight hours of footage compressed into just two and a half minutes.
One of my goals for this project was to make to make a timelapse camera on a budget. I don't have a DSLR so instead of buying one I bought a cheap digital camera took it apart and soldered wires to the shutter button. I hooked these wires up to a simple analog timing circuit I made and I now have my very own timelapse camera. One of the advantages to this timelapse camera is I don't mind leaving on the side of the river for the day while I go paddling, if I had a nice DSLR I wouldn't leave it on the side of the river.
The song in the background is Band Of Horses- The Funeral (Butch Clancy Remix)
