Pretty random, but I've been cleaning up my computer lately, and tonight I came across this. Seemed appropriate since it's Iowa caucus time! Wheee. But yes, it's Jon Bon Jovi and his violinist friend, at a Kerry/Edwards rally in Raleigh two days before the general election in 2004. Actually, it was just John Edwards at this rally. And his wife and daughter. And okay, various North Carolina Democrats. And yeah, Jon Bon. It's the only video I can find from that rally, actually. I go to a political event and come away with a music video! Ha. It's the one and only rally I've ever been to in my life. It was at Dorton Arena, on the North Carolina state fairgrounds. I actually went by myself to this, just because I thought it would be interesting. And it was. Just crawling with people who were WAY more into it than me. Some of them seemed to have been drinking a bit too much Democratic Kool-Aid, too. But it was definitely an interesting thing to be a part of. And hey, seeing the Bon was sorta cool, too. I liked this song, his cover of "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding." This was taken with my old Olympus point & shoot camera, which I've since traded in to help fund my insane SLR addiction. So yeah, not very good quality, but you get the point. Unedited, too, so there's even the tail end of "Livin' on a Prayer" at the beginning. WOW! I know you're impressed. Jon Bon sang quite a few songs, really.
And since I'm actually making a video public for the first time ever, I'd just like to say that I'm registered independent, I'm in no way a Democrat or a Republican, and my attendance at an Edwards rally doesn't indicate which way I lean politically. Well ... it does a little. I didn't exactly vote Bush in '04. Seems like I was the only one who didn't in this state, ha. I've actually never voted for a winning presidential candidate, oddly enough. I'm what, 0 for 3? Nice. Good luck, whoever I vote for this time.
